Can you hear the Great Samaritan?
He’s just outside your door
He’s carrying the wounded
We so oftentimes ignore
His weary arms are holding
The desperate and the lost
So great his holy ransom
How precious was the cost.
You are his solution
Built for such a day
Please don’t cause him sorrow.
Please don’t turn away
We joy in all he’s given
We thank him for his grace
But we fail to hear his call
And reject him to his face
The Samaritan is here right now
Eyes of love and tears of grief
His love is everlasting
Far beyond belief
Not guilty was his verdict
Salvation is complete
And now he’s calling to us all
Will we be his hands and feet?

Life is filled with uncertainties
And the waves are overwhelming
The wind howls today just as it did in Jesus day.
When a car hits a tree and the sirens wail
When you see the culture destroy children
Denying that there is a God
When leaders get sick
When leaders are nowhere to be found.
He’s calling out to us
Get out of the boat

The Ultimate Showdown is Flesh VS Faith
1 Kings 17:7-16
1. Flesh is fueled by fear.
2. Flesh is a feast before death
3. Flesh is paralyzing
4. Flesh causes us to pull back.
“I do not believe one can settle how much we ought to give. I am afraid the only
safe rule is to give more than we can spare.”
5. Flesh is not concerned about those around us.
6. Flesh blames God.
No words can express how much the world owes to sorrow. Most of the Psalms
were born in the wilderness. Most of the Epistles were written in a prison. The
greatest thoughts of the greatest thinkers have all passed through fire. The
greatest poets have “learned in suffering what they taught in song.” In bonds
Bunyan lived the allegory that he afterwards wrote, and we may thank Bedford
Jail for the Pilgrim’s Progress. Take comfort, afflicted Christian! When God is
about to make pre-eminent use of a person, He put them in the fire.
George MacDonald
The Lord gets his best soldiers out of the highlands of affliction.
1. Faith is speaking the truth even when it won’t be popular.
2. Faith grows in the wilderness.
3. Faith is illogical provision
4. Faith is a test of trust
“We are all faced with a series of great opportunities brilliantly disguised as
impossible situations.” Chuck Swindoll

The power of our words.
How any times have children been shattered by the words of angry parents and friends? How many times have we seen marriages wrecked by anger diatribes and accusations? How many times have leaders been attacked by unreasonable words of disgust and mockery? How many parents have been crushed by careless words of thoughtless children? How many reputations have been marred by whispered lies and gossiping gangs?

Jesus
creator King of every king
and yet this was Mary's boy.
blood spilled grace on me
and still Mary's boy piercing your heart, Mary
to save me forsaking you
and his kingdom
for me.
What a terrible loss
you suffered
to watch this one you fed, changed, embraced,
carried, protected, and nourished
now condemned to bear nails and thones whips and shame
so that we could all come to the table.
and face the gethsemane of every broken generation
he cried for his Daddy as the sunset brought shadows
on the edge of town.
You had others but that night He was your only Boy.

Learn the enemies three major strategies against believers and how to combat them.
Therefore put on the full . . .
not half . . .
the full . . .
not as much as you feel comfortable wearing . . .
not as much as is politically correct . . .
not as much as is evangelically chic . . .
not only enough to cover your back side . . .
the whole . . .
Even 90% is inadequate.
. . . the whole armor of God.
So that when the day of evil comes—
(And know this, it will come.)
when the forces surround you and there seems to be nowhere to go but down,
when you have been challenged, attacked, battered, and thrashed,
when you have been ridiculed and mocked,
accused, subjugated, and hammered,
you’ll be like the house that Jesus built.
The winds will come and the waves will crash down upon you like the raging rapids of hell,
but you’ll stand.
You will stand.
You will stand.
Stand your ground. Stand at attention.
Like the three Hebrew children before Nebuchadnezzar,
like Moses before Pharaoh,
like David before an ugly sneering giant,
you’ll stand.
Like Jesus at the flaming portals of Hades demanding the keys of destruction, you’ll stand.
Undistracted. Totally determined.
No demon can touch you if you stand clothed with the shining armor of God.
You’ll stand, and no weapon shall prosper.
No arrow can touch you. You’ve been called into the service of a God who is all powerful, all loving, all knowing, all right and all ready! Are you ready?
